Women's Health

Regular check-ups should be at the top of every woman’s to-do list. As important and overwhelming as work, family and the zillion other obligations we all juggle may seem, your health trumps them all.

Here are some resources and tips to empower women to improve their health, no matter their age:

Check-up Checklist

Talk to your primary care doctor and/or OB-GYN about important exams, screenings and vaccinations based on your age, personal and family history and symptoms. Before your appointment, make sure you’re asking the right questions and are prepared to discuss your family and personal histories.

Just a sample of things that should be on every woman’s radar:

  • A healthy weight to avoid obesity
  • Cholesterol
  • Breast, cervical and colon cancers
  • High blood pressure
  • Depression
  • Osteoporosis and bone density
  • Diabetes

The No. 3 Cancer Killer in Women

Colon cancer is not a man’s disease. It occurs equally as often in women and as it does in men. In fact, colon cancer kills as many women as ovarian, cervical and uterine cancers combined. Download our brochure:

Ask your physician if you should have a screening colonoscopy. While generally age 50 is the starting point for screening, family history and other factors may require earlier action. Find out if you could be at risk.

Educate Others

Think about all the females in your life that you could impact: sisters, daughters, mothers, nieces, girlfriends and co-workers. The example you set can positively change their health. Just a sample of the little things you can do:

  • Send a good-health e-card
  • Take the Stop Colon Cancer pledge. It only takes 30 seconds!
  • Start a walking group for your friends and family
  • Quit smoking, or encourage someone else to try to stop
  • Start a conversation about healthy eating, your doctor’s appointments or your health concerns.
